Yamamoto Plane Mfg. Co., Ltd. was established in 1919 in Shibamachi, Miki City, after his grandfather Kiichi became a disciple of Mr. Utaro Kurokawa, a master of Miki plane blade, and learned the technique of plane blade manufacturing. In 1945, his father, Katsuzo, entered the work and succeeded him as a blacksmith, Katsusaburo.
